The creation of a charity, from the very beginning.
To the person who said, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” you are an insufferable know-it-all. When I say that quote in my head, it has the exact same tone as my Dad saying “I told you so” after he has turned out to be right for the fifty millionth time.
This blog, which I intended to update twice a month with witty and insightful musings has been left untouched and unloved for over a year now because of… well… life.
A lot has happened. The more dedicated readers (Mum) will know that I have still been writing for Social Work Helper (http://www.socialworkhelper.com/author/rebecca-novell/) and other publications.
Rather miraculously, I managed to turn my neurotic blabberings in this blog in to a book. A real-life book. Like Harper Lee and Sylvia Plath and Charles Dickens. Only better. Miles better. If you don’t believe me, you can check it for yourself here: http://criticalpublishing.com/index.php/starting-social-work.html
But since the start of 2013 my life outside work (and discovering that there is a life outside work has been a revelation to me) has been one long Maths lesson aka confusing and upsetting. My subsequent blogs will therefore be accounts of my personal struggles over the last 18 months. They won’t be cheery and probably won’t be of interest to anyone but myself. But I want to share them. Partly because I hope it will be therapeutic but mainly because I am an entirely different person from who was when I started this blog.
I am still aiming to start my own charity and I want to look back one day and see exactly how I got there- to miss out the difficult bits would be a misrepresentation.
So hold tight, I promise it’ll get cheery again soon.
